The brand emerged in 2012 from a lineage rooted in the early 1990s, when a small group of karigars came together to practice ancient embroidery techniques including Zardozi and Tambour. Many of those same artisans remain part of the work today. Design is developed in New York's Garment District and carried to embroidery rooms in India, under the creative direction of Sohil Mistry and his partner Nayha.
