A Carolina Herrera gown begins with a concept and sketch. In one of the few remaining ateliers in New York City, each bridal gown is dreamed up by the House design team, which is carefully developed by patternmakers who drape fabric before planning the design on paper. Every drape and every seam is planned, discussed, and charted onto a dressmaker form, before fitting the muslin on the House’s fit model. The fabric cutters then cut the design in fabric. Delicate details, like embroidery, are given even more attention as the design is charted by the in-house embroidery designer and then hand-beaded in India. Following, the look is recreated in fabric. Inspired by the modern bride, the Carolina Herrera Spring 2019 Bridal collection touches upon tradition while bending the rules. Every bride has her something old and something new, but this year the House nudges her into completing her something borrowed and blue with unexpected bursts of yellow or purple satin, because a Carolina Herrera bride isn’t afraid of color. With meticulous attention to detail, the Carolina Herrera Bridal Collection is playful and romantic, offering A-line silhouettes and dramatic trumpet gowns to the bride who is
ready to make her own kind of statement.
